What kind and how much lime should be used for repointing of handmade bricks?

The brick wall I am repointing has handmade bricks and mortar that’s at least over 100 yrs old. I’m guessing that the mortar mix is 1 part lime and 3 parts sand. My question is what kind of lime is used? High calcium lime found in pulverized lime? And should the same mortar be used on the stone foundation? Also, what course sand should I use?
