Is it tacky to give my hairdresser a box of handmade candles instead of cash as a christmas present?

I’m a senior in college, and although the ONE that I splurge on is my hair (I generally pay $200 per visit), I cannot afford to give him a big cash bonus like most people are advised to do.
I make beautiful handmade candles though.
Will this come off as tacky?
